The Two Oceans Marathon
The Two Oceans Marathon, one of the world's most scenic ultra-marathons, is set to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, in April. This iconic race, which first began in 1970, has become a bucket-list event for runners from around the world.
The Two Oceans Marathon takes runners through two of South Africa's most beautiful oceans – the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. The race starts and finishes at the University of Cape Town, with the 56km ultra-marathon route taking runners along Chapman's Peak Drive, through Hout Bay and Constantia Nek, and around the Cape Peninsula.
The Two Oceans Marathon is not just about running; it is a celebration of South African culture, food, and music. The race village, situated at the finish line, is a vibrant hub of activity with food stalls, live music, and entertainment for runners and spectators alike. It's a chance to experience the warm and welcoming hospitality of the South African people and soak up the festive atmosphere.
The Two Oceans Marathon is known for its challenging route, which includes some steep hills and descents, particularly on Chapman's Peak Drive. However, runners are rewarded with breathtaking views of the ocean and the Cape Peninsula.
